Where to Propose in Martha's Vineyard

How We Met

We met on a blind date in 2014 in New York City. Our first date was at La Colombe coffee shop. We agreed to meet at the “one right next to East Houston.” And we did– just not the same one. We each chose one on either side of the street! Once HE correctly navigated to the PROPER la Colombe (mine. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it) I was immediately taken with him!

We started dating soon after. He tried to play it cool but definitely failed (me too) and within a week or two, he went with me to pick up our french bulldog puppy Luna! 5 years, 3 moves, 1 ring, and two and a half bulldogs later, (1 English bulldog named Maggie, 1 Frenchie Lu, and a 1/2 bull/Aussie shepherd mix named Pippin) we’re getting married next week!

How They Asked

We were on our way to Dogfish Bar, my grandmother’s favorite little beach on Martha’s Vineyard when Jon suddenly stopped at Alley’s store. He came back a few moments later with a small tube of red nail polish and got back on the road. When we got to the beach, we walked as far down as far as you’re supposed to go. That’s when he snuck us onto the now private part of the beach—the exact spot my grandmother used to sit! That’s when he got down on one knee—just on the edge of the water—and asked me to marry him. It was truly perfect—profound, private, and spontaneous! Apparently, he called my father from the store and said: “Dr. Wolf, I’m calling an audible.” I’m so, so lucky that he did.

I still carry my red nail polish with me everywhere I go!
