How we met: Alex and I met our junior year of college (2009). My sorority had a “When we were growing up” social and we both went, but with other dates. I was wearing a bedazzled princess t-shirt and had crimped hair. He was wearing a polo shirt with a popped collar and slicked back gelled hair. So as you can imagine, it was love at first sight. We ended up spending the rest of the evening sitting outside on the porch swing talking. He took me out on our first date a couple nights later and the rest is history.
how they asked: Alex had been helping plan different events for work and so when he mentioned he was planning one at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens I thought nothing of it. He had been talking about a meeting he had planned there on Saturday 11/16 for over a month. I however had made other plans. The Thursday before, my friend ended up “canceling” our plans so Alex suggested I go with him and we could stay for the Night of Lights. We got there just in time for his “meeting”, but when we tried to go in we were stopped and told the park was closed for an hour to get ready for the light show. Alex began to act panicked and I kept suggesting he call the person he was meeting with. He was on his phone when a man came to the front and let us in. We walked through the park and he took me to a grass area and said that was where he would set up for his event. All of a sudden he got down on one knee and proposed. As soon as I said Yes! our best friends and family came running out. I was overwhelmed with happiness! He couldn’t have done a better job.
