How We Met
Jordan and I met in November of 2010. I had just come home from college for Thanksgiving break when my friends convinced me to go out to a local bar. Exhausted from the trip back home from school, I eventually agreed to go out. While we were out, some of my friends had noticed a few guys that were from our hometown, one of them being Jordan. As my friends were talking with some of his friends, Jordan and I began talking. We hit it off immediately. Prior to leaving and going home, Jordan asked for my number. I didn’t think he’d actually text me the next day or anything. Over the next few days, Jordan tried to get me to go out with him, however, I played a little hard to get. After consistent persistence, I gave Jordan a shot and we went on our first date and the rest is history.
how they asked
Fast forward 7 years, we were both invited to a friend’s wedding in Honolulu, Hawaii. Being that it is very far from our hometown on Long Island, we decided to make a long vacation out of it. The wedding was during the first half of our trip and our second half of the trip was going to be spent in Maui, Hawaii. We were with a large group of friends for the wedding so some of them joined us in Maui as well. After arriving in Maui, the group decided on a few activities we wanted to do before heading home, one of those activities being a hike to a waterfall. On the morning of Tuesday, April 3rd, we all decided to rent cars and drive an hour away to check out a few waterfalls. We were recommended a hike called Twin Falls in Maui.
A tad tired and wet from the hike, we began to put all our bags and belongings down in a dry area. At that moment, I hear Jordan call my name to come take a picture with him before we all jumped in the water. He had asked my best friend to take a photo using her Nikon camera and had asked his friend to take a video on the GoPro. Unsuspecting of anything, I walk over to Jordan and begin to pose for the picture. Jordan then realizes there were people directly behind us and started to politely ask them to move. Before snapping the picture, Jordan then asks me to take my hair out of my bun and as I start shaking my hair out to look decent for the photo, he drops to one knee and asks me to marry him. I probably asked if he was serious 3 or 4 times because I was completely shocked. This was a long-awaited proposal and we are so excited for all that’s to come!
