How We Met: Jeremy and I met on a mission trip to Jamaica our senior year of high school. We had very little interaction that week, but fast forward 2 years, and that is a huge part of our story. We both shared a love for the island and when our paths crossed after a couple years of college, we quickly picked up where we left off. From our passion for missions, Jesus, and nature, we had no doubt in our minds that every past mistake, poor choice, and step we had taken was used by God to bring us together and make us to be the couple we are today. I am so thankful for my dad and I going to Jamaica as one last trip together before I graduated and for Jeremy being able to go on that trip. Our favorite island united our hearts before we even knew it… One love.
how they asked: So we planned a date to Jeremy’s family land. It is our favorite place to go to get away, spend time together outdoors, and just have time to fish and talk to each other. This day, though, was HOT and HUMID. We spent maybe 30 minutes fishing until we Jeremy suggested we drive around on the golf cart and cool off for a while. We were diving and having so much fun and he brought us back around to the dock on the pond. When he parked the golf cart and came around to take my hand, I knew something was up. He walked me over to the dock that was decorated in burlap and sunflowers, my favorite. I was still in shock and honestly I thought we were interrupting someone else’s special moment. Then I turn around and he is on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him… My best friend and his sister were hiding and taking pictures, my dad had a camera set up and got the whole thing, and when it was all done, I was greeted by my best friends and our family. It was beyond perfect. I’m the luckiest girl there is, Jeremy Smith is my best friend and I get to spend the rest of my life with him!
