Aleigh and David
How We Met: David and I met playing sand volleyball with some mutual friends during the summer of 2006. We had gone to the same high school for a couple of years but he had transferred his junior year. We didn’t know each other at that point, however, so that summer was the first time we had officially met. A good guy friend of mine had called me one day to ask if I would like to play sand volleyball and I, of course, said yes. David was there too because we apparently had a bunch of mutual friends. We didn’t start dating or anything until that December, but there was a lot of hanging out and just becoming great friends between that whole time.
how they asked: If you have ever seen the movie “Meet the Parents”, then you will have a good idea of what this was like in person.
David had taken me to look at rings and whatnot before, but I wasn’t expecting anything anytime soon. At this point, we had been together for a little over 4 years. It was Friday, April 16, 2010 and I was at work like any normal Friday. My boss came and found me and asked me to come to her office to talk about my schedule for the next semester. I went with her and talked for a few minutes, but little did I know that she was in on the proposal too. David had called her earlier that morning to discuss his plan with her and they were trying to figure out the best way to execute the plan. (I worked at a childcare center at the time… which plays a huge part in the story).
I finished talking to my boss. We walked back down to my classroom, as school was about to start, and BAM! The first thing I see is David in the doorway on one knee with a ring in his hand! My kids and co-workers were there holding the signs that read “Will you marry me, Aleigh?” Well, the kids tried holding the signs. They were only 18-24 months old so most of them actually tried eating or tearing the signs, but it was still so adorable! They ended up just taping the signs to the floor… and of course, I said Yes!!
We are getting married October 5,2012, and here are pictures from our engagement shoot!
