Alayna and I met on August 23, 2013 in Nassau, Bahamas. We were both on cruises (separate ships.) Fate and circumstance caused our two paths to cross, not a moment too soon, and makes me truly believe that timing is everything. Our lives over the past few years have been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, but I believe our perfect fairy tale has just begun. I look at her and instantly realize why it never worked out with anyone else. She completes my heart and her soul is my souls counterpoint.
I proposed to my beautiful fiance’ on 11/23/14. We were on a Thanksgiving cruise with her family and my idea was to create a “hunt” throughout the ship for her to receive 3 “prizes” at 3 various points on the ship. The “prizes” were 3 separate note cards which on which I wrote vows that I promised to her. The cards read:
#1: “I promise to love you with all I am, and nothing less. I promise to always listen to you, to take care of you, and support you. I promise to be kind to you, to be the leader in our family, and to grow our faith together. I promise to stay true to you. You are my only one.”
#2: “I promise to be honest with you, no matter what. I promise to be the man you fell in love with, the man I know I’m supposed to be, and I will always stay that man for you.”
#3: “I promise to make God the center of our lives, and the head of our household. I promise to do everything I can to be closer to your family. I promise to be the Godly father of our future children that I know they need. I promise I will always love your family like my own.”
As I stood at the front of the ship, waiting for her to arrive, the sky grew dark and cloudy. But as soon as she appeared, well, you can see how the sky looked. It lit up perfectly.
