How We Met
It all started a little over 5 years ago when I was working a day shift at the hospital. One of our nurses became sick and left to go home for the day so I was the lucky nurse chosen to cover some of her patients. One of the lovely patient’s I was taking care of just happened to be Matthew’s mother. When he walked out of his mother’s room I told her “Gosh your son is so handsome.” Not thinking she would say anything to him. Little did I know that she would tell Matthew exactly what I said. After that day shift I had a few days off and when I returned to the hospital his mother had been discharged and I became a little sad that I wouldn’t get the opportunity to see that handsome man ever again. To my surprise after his mother had discharged he came back to the hospital on a day when I wasn’t working and left a thank you card with one of my coworkers to give to me. It simply said “You are special and thank you so much for taking good care of my mom and supporting our family throughout this difficult time.” He also left his contact information in the card. Was this fate?? I just had to reach out to him so I decided to send a text thanking him for sweet card and the rest was history.
how they asked
Fast forward to five years later. It was a magical winter night on December 30th 2016. We had plans to go to the Biltmore because I wanted to see the beautiful lights and the trees that they decorate for the holidays. Little did I know that Matthew had our proposal up his sleeve this night. Right there on the beautiful grounds at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC he popped the question in front of one of the many magical Christmas trees.
I couldn’t stop crying! My dreams had finally come true. My happily ever after was happening all thanks to his late mother.
