How We Met
Matt and I met on a cruise back in 2005. We stayed in touch on AIM and once we realized we lived only 15 minutes away from one another, we hung out a few times before Matt went away to college (I was still in High School). We later connected on social media and would occasionally post a “happy birthday” or like each other’s photos but hadn’t seen one another for over 10 years.
Fast forward to 2017, we quite literally bumped into each other and happened to both be living and working in NYC. It was an instant re-connection and the rest is history!
How They Asked
The Friday before Christmas 2018, Matt suggested we go out to lunch since we were both getting out of work early that day. It was an unseasonably warm 65 degrees outside and extremely rainy all day. He asked me to meet him in a very inconvenient location where he was “meeting a colleague” so that we could head over together. Much to my frustration given the weather, I obliged, and Matt suggested we cut through Madison Square Park to get to the restaurant. We entered the park and he started walking very slowly, then put the umbrella down….. the next thing I knew, he was on one knee asking me to spend forever with him!
