Engagement Proposal Ideas in Maine

How We Met

We met on our first day on campus at Boston College. Adam and I both joined the saxophone section of the Boston College Marching Band, but when student leaders came around asking for volunteers to learn new instruments, we both switched to the sousaphone section. Even though I didn’t end up continuing with that instrument, we had a theatre class together that first semester and bonded over studying the plays and texts for class. We started officially dating that November and, as they say, the rest is history!

Emily's Proposal in Maine

how they asked

I love this story! Adam and I live in Minnesota now, pretty far from both of our families, so we don’t get home for every holiday. This Thanksgiving, we decided to make ourselves a bit of a feast even though it was just the two of us. While we had a little break in cooking, we took a walk around our neighborhood lake. We stopped at a bench looking out over the water and Adam asked me what I was thankful for that year. I went through a whole list and then asked him the question in return. After going through his own gratitudes, he ended saying he was thankful for me and the last six years together and the relationship we built. He said he wanted that to continue, reached into his jacket pocket, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I immediately started crying (of course) and it was perfect. Even better, we already had plans to FaceTime with my family and got to surprise most of them! It was amazing and a memory I will love forever.
