How We Met
We met in high school when I moved to a small town in South Georgia. We had our ups and downs but we would always find our way back to each other. It was a summer night at a get together that we saw each other for the first time after a few months. We talked a little and reconnected. A few days later he asked if he could come over and I didn’t know what to tell him. He answered his own question by showing up in my driveway and asking me to come out front to talk. We talked under the stars for hours about us and the possibility of working things out. We started back dating that night on August 29, 2011 and we haven’t been apart since.
how they asked
Every year since Cody & I have been serious we celebrate the 4th of July at his grandparents lake house in Milledgeville, Georgia. His entire family goes and we spend a wonderful weekend on the lake together. We have always wanted my parents to come but they have never been able to make it. This year, they surprised me by showing up on Friday to finally spend a weekend with us there! Everyone thought I would immediately think something was fishy and would suspect the proposal. I was just so excited they were able to come I didn’t have time to think about why they were really there. Next thing I know, we were playing cornhole and one of the bags had “will you marry me?” embroidered on the bean bag. After he tossed the bag to me he started walking towards me so I thought he wanted the bag back to throw again. I tossed the embroidered bag right back to him without reading it! He had to tell me to look at it! Once I saw what it said I was speechless. I was finally saying yes to my best friend! The lakefront sky filled with fireworks once I answered. It was so beautiful and my heart is so full that my family and Cody planned such a beautiful moment for us.
