How We Met
For several years, life was tough and I was going through the motions not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel. And one day in February of last year that all changed. My mom and I run a CrossFit gym in central Florida and she called one day talking about some boy who had moved from Utah who is just the “bees knees”. I didn’t listen and wasn’t looking for love. My mind was set. It was my first week back at the gym, after recovering from a severe ATV accident. I was focused and ready to start back so I walk inside and hear the smoothest and kindest voice I’ve ever heard, I turned the corner and my heart skipped a beat and I thought “Oh geez…he’s perfect”.
And apparently he thought the same thing. We have seen each other every single day since and light has been brought back to my world of grey. He is my very best friend and has changed my life. I will never forget that first day! February 9, 2016, Mardi Gras. That was when the new chapter of my life began. We talked for a little while at the gym (my mom was so eager and excited to be a witness), we then went our separate ways, then found ourselves back at the gym a few hours later. But that was still not enough, so I went to work and then picked him up afterwards to show him around and meet some new people. After that, the rest is history. Day by day we became more inseparable which lead to where we are today: best friends and soon to be husband and wife!
how they asked
On December 12, 2016, Sutton asked me if he could take me on a date in one of our favorite locations in a small town. He took me to dinner and we walked among Christmas lights and he then took me to our favorite spot where we would talk for hours on a bench swing around a fountain when we first met. It’s gorgeous there, with flowers and smiling faces, the sun shining down and the stars twinkling bright, it’s perfect. During Christmas the fountain becomes a massive Christmas tree that touches the sky and there are lights everywhere (my favorite)! Little did I know my brother and mom are jumping from bush to bush capturing every moment. Sutton gets up and distracts me with the ornaments and then holds me and starts talking. I couldn’t believe what was about to happen, my body was trembling and I could not hold back tears.
And when he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, the world seemed to pause just for us so that we could live in that moment forever. I then noticed that he chose to use the diamond that had originally been my grandmothers.
I couldn’t believe it! My best friend asked me to marry him! The ring took my breath away, he took my breath away, the moment took my breath away! I couldn’t be happier and I also couldn’t ask for a better family, you know with them hiding in Florida shrubbery capturing every detail. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams!
He makes me the happiest person alive! December 29th will be my favorite day!
