How We Met
David and I met in kindergarten. We grew up as best friends and we, as no surprise, started dating our junior year of high school. I went off to college, and he joined the air force, but our relationship only grew stronger. With God as our main focus, we made it through the first three years of our relationship, with two of those being long distance. While I was studying abroad in Prague and he was stationed in Texas, we received the news that that following summer he was going to be stationed in South Korea for a year.
how they asked
Because of him being stationed in South Korea, we had talked about how we needed to begin the “marriage process.” I’m very traditional, so I was not a fan of how planned and premature everything was. He hadn’t even proposed yet! However, paperwork and a time limit were in the way, so we did what we needed to do. I was planning him home in about two weeks for a short break, and my best friend asked me to go on a hike. I had suspicions but they both lied so well that I went on the hike doubting anything was going to happen. When we got to the top, he was there. All dressed up in his uniform, and smiling with my favorite flowers, it was the best sight I’ve ever seen. He said he knew how important it was for me to have a somewhat traditional engagement, so he wanted to surprise me!
And of course I said yes!
