How We Met
Zach and I both grew up in the beautiful town of Prescott, Arizona and throughout our lives we were part of the same friend group, however, it wasn’t until a football game, freshman year of high school that we really connected. We began talking with a group of our friends and immediately, five minutes turned into a few hours. I loved his big blue eyes and the little dimples that appeared when he laughed, but I never imagined that that handsome boy on the bleachers would fall for me. At the end of the night, we decided it would be fun to set each other up with one of our friends, so I began searching for a suitable match, all the while wishing it were me.
Zach began subtly dropping hints about the amazing guy he had found for me and the more he brought it up, the more bummed I became that he really wasn’t into me. Eventually, he gave up as I can be a bit oblivious and let me in on the secret that the “perfect guy” he had been describing was, in fact, himself. That was almost seven years ago and they have been the best years of my life. Among all of Zach’s great attributes, match maker may be his best!
how they asked
This summer, I was working in Hawaii and counting down the days until Zach got to come visit me. I was almost overly excited and planned an itinerary weeks in advance. One of the activities we thought would be great was a couple’s photoshoot considering we had never taken professional photos together and Hawaii would be the perfect backdrop. Zach called me one morning to tell me about a contest he had come across to win a photoshoot and due to the fact that photographers in Hawaii are so expensive, it was our only option. So, I entered with high hopes we would be the lucky winners. Weeks later, I received an email informing me that we had actually won. I was beyond excited and so surprised. I attributed the win to a lucky penny I had found the day before and kept it in my shoe for over a month!
On the day of the shoot, I was giddy with happiness that we would finally be getting photos in such a beautiful place. We met up with the photographer and began taking pictures. He informed us how lucky we were to be chosen considering there were over a thousand entries which was shocking as I have never even won a contest with two entries. We came to a beautiful little rock wall when a rainbow appeared behind us. Zach spun me around putting his arms around me so we could take it all in and snap a cute photo. When I turned back around, he was on his knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
After all the laughing and tears were through Zach informed me that I was in fact the only contestant and he had planned the entire thing, even created the website to ensure I didn’t suspect a thing.
July 16, 2016 was by far the best day of my life and I cannot wait to spend forever with such an amazing man!
