How We Met

We don’t actually remember the exact day we first met or even the exact year! Riley and I have known each other since I was about seven and he was nine. We grew up together and met at our church, Mauldin United Methodist, and this is where we will be getting married! As I got older, I had a small “crush” on Riley which only grew bigger as the years passed by. I never made a move, as he is two years older than me and I was slightly shy. Come to find out, he had feelings for me too! We started dating in the fall of my sophomore year of high school and never looked back.

How They Asked

I have to admit, I did have some suspicion Riley had something up his sleeve when he asked me to pack nice clothes, since all I usually wear are my workout clothes! The day of our engagement Riley was doing everything in his power to keep us busy. We had worked out, went on another 4 mile walk, went shopping in Downtown Clemson, and got lunch all before 11:30am! Riley ended up proposing to me at the Botanical Gardens in Clemson. This was a special place to us, as we spent time after time walking and talking through the gardens during our years of college. After barely managing to say “yes” through all the tears (from both of us) Riley said he had arranged a small dinner in my backyard with my family and his. As we pulled onto the street where my house is, I saw all of Riley and I’s best friend’s cars, as well both our extended families. I was a mess, to say the least. We had celebration (COVID safe, of course) and it was truly the best day of my life. Spending our first hours as an engaged couple with our closest friends and family was something I will cherish the rest of my life.
