Abby and Leo

Abby and Leo's Engagement in Standing Stone Coffee Company

How We Met

In January of 2015, my friend, Carlie, asked if I wanted to go out with her fiance’s younger brother, Leo. At the time, I told her no; I wasn’t interested. But she didn’t really take ‘no’ for an answer. Little did I know, my parents and acquaintances were all behind her, edging me on to go on the date. So I gave in. I agreed to go on the blind date. The date was set for January 22, 2015. We went to a small local coffee place, where we sat for a good few hours talking and drinking frozen Chai teas. When it came time to leave, we didn’t exchange phone numbers, or any information. That was the end of the date. Five minutes into my drive back home, I got a Facebook message from Leo. (Didn’t take him long to find my social media.) He let me know he had a great time and asked when we could do it again. We set another date for later that week, and we have been consistently making dates ever since.

how they asked

It was on my birthday March 24, 2017. After work that day, Leo picked me up and said we were going to get some coffee before we headed out to eat for dinner. We went to the same local coffee place where we met. I didn’t know at the time that he had big plans. On his way out of the car, Leo grabbed a grocery bag and told me it was a birthday gift. He told me I could just open it up while we waited for our coffees. After we ordered our coffee, we found a small table in the corner and he gave me a card and a box of skittles.

I opened the sweet card, and thanked him. He told me I better start eating the skittles. (Candy is my favorite food!) So I opened the box of skittles and inside the box I found a little bag with a ring in it. He then asked me to marry him. Of course I said, yes! We’ve been happily engaged ever since. After we left the coffee place, he took me over to a small park where he had a photo shoot waiting and we got engagement pictures done the same day.
