How We Met
We met on the first day of college at Texas A&M University. I was lost, searching for a mailbox on campus when I saw they were having free food and activities at the Former Students Association building, he had just flew in from the London School of Economics. I was walking around and he walked up to me and said: “Hi, I’m Dan.” From then on we talked about how we both were out of state residents and taught ourselves how to follow along with the spirit chants. I saw him 2 days later and he asked me to attend Midnight yell with him as a date since he had joined the Corps of Cadets. From that date on we have been inseparable!
How They Asked
I had just graduated from Texas A&M University, my family and I then flew to Washington DC to watch Dan graduate The Basic School as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. That night he promised the two of us would celebrate our graduations with a walk around The Mall at night to see all of the historic landmarks illuminated for Christmas and then a special dinner.
We walked from the Washington monument all the way to the Lincoln Memorial and he was explaining his favorite parts of our relationship and how excited he was for the future. When we got to the top of the memorial and he said: “Are you ready for this?” And he began to get down on his knee and asked if I would marry him!
