how we met
William and I met in Chemistry Class in High School in Matthews, North Carolina. We were definitely interested in one another from the beginning, but did not start spending time together until spring when he asked me to prom. We started dating about a month later and we have been dating ever since for six years! :)
how they asked
William proposed to me on Friday, May 11th, 2018 (our five year anniversary) in my neighborhood. It was a surprise that I did not expect to happen so soon!! I expected him to propose sometime that summer but not as soon as he did. William is in the Coast Guard and was scheduled to be on a work trip that weekend. Little did I know, this work trip was cancelled and he booked a flight on Wednesday, May 9th to come home and propose to me two short days later! He had picked out the ring in March and was originally planning to propose over labor day weekend when he would be home for the long weekend and his birthday. It’s crazy, earlier that week I had called my mom and sister to see if they wanted to get our nails done on Friday since I would be coming home from school that Thursday. This was before my mom received a call from William on Wednesday that he would be proposing to me that weekend! SO, Friday morning we are getting our nails done (by chance) and I get a phone call from my friend Reagan (@reagan_adele) asking if I want to go and practice using my camera that afternoon/evening since I had shared with her over coffee that Monday that this is something I wanted to do. That afternoon I get ready and leave with my camera to meet up with her and she has to “cancel” because she is in traffic on her way home from Clemson and wouldn’t make it in time. So I turned around and headed back to my neighborhood where my mom had told me to come and join them at the water while my dad fished. When I get there I park, get out of my car, and to the left William is walking up to me, homemade ring box in hand! He had built me a wooden ring box since he didn’t like the box the ring came in, haha! Next thing I know he is down on one knee asking me to marry him! Of course, I said yes, yes, YES!!
