How We Met
Jordan and I met when I was fifteen years old. I was having a sleepover at my cousins house, who was a few years older than me, when she told me we were sneaking out with some of her guy friends. Both a little scared and excited, I agreed to go. That’s where I first met Jordan. I remember thinking he was sooo cute! We went to a 24-hour breakfast restaurant and laughed and got to know each other until 4 in the morning. I’ve had my eyes set on him ever since!
how they asked
I had been bugging Jordan to give me a hint on how or when he was going to propose, but every time I did he told me it would be a surprise and I should just stop asking. I had a three week trip to Europe planned with my team, the BYU Cougarettes, and I figured I probably wouldn’t get engaged before I got home from that. As I said goodbye to Jordan in the airport I bawled like a baby because I hated the thought of being away from him so long. My coach and teammates comforted me saying “it’ll be okay, you’ll see him so soon.” Little did I know I would see him A LOT sooner than I was expecting. Every night while I was in Europe I would FaceTime Jordan and we would talk for a while. Earlier in the week Jordan told me he and his brother, Matt, were going on a camping trip for a few days and he wouldn’t have good enough service to call me. I believed him of course but was starting to get frustrated because he wouldn’t send me pictures of them camping and he deleted his location on find my friends. I told some of my friends my suspicions of him flying out to surprise me, they all shot that idea down real quick and told me not to get my hopes up. After that moment, I didn’t give the idea a second thought.
The next morning, we headed out sightseeing of the Fisherman’s Bastion castle in Budapest. It was the most amazing castle I had ever seen. I was blown away, taking pictures of everything in sight, not noticing that nobody else was. I was falling behind the group and finally someone called to me that we were taking a team picture. My whole team was circled around the entrances to a dome that looked out over the city of Budapest. I walked right into the dome to find Jordan standing there in his blue dress shirt that I love. It took me a minute to register what I was seeing. I couldn’t believe what I saw! I walked over to him, he swept me off my feet, and the tears started flowing.
He got down on one knee and I lost it! He said “I traveled all this way to ask you to marry me.” I couldn’t say yes fast enough! There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, even even the random tourists were crying and taking pictures. I was so overwhelmed with joy and happiness- it felt like a dream! I still cry thinking about that special day. It was truly a fairy-tale and a dream come true.
