how they asked
Dan and I frequently went shooting together for date nights. This night was going to be different though, I just didn’t know that yet! I had just gotten home from finishing my second year of veterinary school, and Dan asked what else I wanted to do, other than get tacos (as it was Cinco de Mayo). Unknowingly, I said “we haven’t gone shooting in a while, why don’t we take some guns to the range?” Dan said his sister had had a rough week, and would really like to join us, if it were okay with me; of course I said yes… I went to shoot, but the gun never fired, figuring it just misfired, I stood there for a minute or so.
Dan then said “gently take the bullet out and check to see what is wrong with it”; so I discharged the bullet, and when I looked at the side, he had gotten the bullet engraved with the saying: “Abbey, will you marry me?”
I turned around to find him down on one knee with the ring in his hand!
It was an amazing surprise, one that I did not expect.
Without me knowing, his sister (who is an awesome photographer) had gotten her camera out of the gun bag, and was capturing the moment.
It was one of the best moments of my life, one that I will never forget. We took some more pictures around the range, and then headed back to his house, where his family and our closest friends were waiting!
